Riverside Mercer is an independent capital protection advisory firm based in Košice, Slovakia. We help private clients — principally business owners, retired executives, and family offices with capital between €500,000 and €10 million under advisory consideration — protect what they have accumulated from the risks most commonly ignored by conventional wealth managers: structural gaps, unreviewed insurance arrangements, incoherent multi-adviser landscapes, and ownership structures that were never designed with succession in mind. We do this through four service lines: risk management, insurance wrapper design and review, holding structure advisory, and independent fiduciary oversight of existing advisory relationships. We serve clients primarily in Slovakia, with a secondary client base extending to the Czech Republic and Austria. We do not manage assets directly; we advise on how they should be protected and structured.
How we work — and the limits of what we do.
Riverside Mercer was established in 2011 by a team of practitioners who had spent their earlier careers inside institutions — private banks, insurance groups, and legal practices — and who recognised a consistent pattern: that the advice clients received was shaped more by the institution's product architecture than by the client's actual situation. The firm was constructed from the outset around a fee-only, fiduciary model. In the thirteen years since, we have completed over 340 structured client engagements and maintained a client retention rate above ninety percent across annual review cycles. Our process is deliberate and unhurried: an initial engagement typically spans three to four months before any structural recommendation is finalised. We work in charcoal-and-gold precision — measured, substantive, and unambiguous. There are things we do not do: we do not execute or custody assets, we do not provide tax return preparation, we do not advise on retail investment products, and we do not accept clients whose primary objective is fiscal avoidance through non-transparent structures. Our scope is protection, governance, and fiduciary coherence — and within that scope, we work with the same rigour on a €600,000 portfolio as on a €6 million one.
